The Bread Sword

£400.00

The Bread Sword was developed around the idea that even a familiar kitchen tool should be made from the best possible materials and engineered to perform at the highest level. Its carefully shaped serrations move cleanly through hard, crusty loaves without crushing the crumb, while the exceptionally sharp edge is equally capable of slicing large fruit, vegetables and softer proteins with control.

The blade is made slightly taller than a conventional bread knife, providing generous knuckle clearance and helping to guide the cut so that slices remain straight, even and consistently thin. Its long profile and carefully forged geometry give the knife stability through larger loaves while still allowing it to move smoothly through more delicate foods.

Made with a Japanese Super Blue carbon-steel core, hardened to approximately 65 HRC, and protected by stainless cladding, the blade combines outstanding sharpness and long-lasting edge retention with easier everyday maintenance. It is a substantial upgrade from conventional stainless bread knives, which often lose their cutting ability surprisingly quickly, and becomes far more useful in the kitchen than its name might initially suggest.

  • Blade length 260mm 45mm, Distal taper on the spine from 3mm to 1.7 mm

  • Steel: Stainless clad with super blue steel core (high carbon, high tungsten) at 65HRC, a true upgrade that will give years of beautiful cutting performance. The Super Blue carbon-steel core can be hardened well beyond most conventional stainless knives, allowing it to take an exceptionally fine edge and retain its sharpness for much longer. Its added alloy content also gives it greater wear resistance than many simpler carbon steels, while the stainless cladding protects most of the blade from corrosion and makes everyday care considerably easier.

  • Handle: Solid Copper bolster and Stabilised Red Oak
